About Unchalli


Unchalli falls is located in the village of Unchalli in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The waterfall was discovered by J. D. Lushington, a District Collector for the British Government and hence the falls are also known as Lushington falls. The waterfall is a 116m drop in the Aghanashini river. The waterfalls is surrounded by forest.

Best time to visit Unchalli falls is winter season from September to January. Visiting during rainy season is risky due to large snake population of the surrounding forest.

Unchalli Falls is 450km from Bangalore.

Route 1: Bangalore - Tumkur - Sira - Hiriyur - Chitradurga - Davanagere - Karur - Halageri - Tivalli - Katrikoppa - Yekkambi - Sirsi - Unchalli Falls

KSRTC runs direct buses from Bangalore to Sirsi. From Sirsi the waterfall is 35km away and can be reached by private jeeps. One can reach till 500m away from the waterfall.
