About Pookot Lake


Pookot Lake is a large naturally formed lake in the Wayanad district of Kerala. The lake is sourrounded on all sides with forest. At the lake there is a Government run aquarium. In the lake one can find water lillies which bears violet colored flowers. The Tourism Department provides pedal boats for boating in the lake.

Reaching Pookot Lake


Pookot Lake is 300km from Bangalore.

Route 1: Bangalore - Mysore - Nanjangudu - Gundelpet - Sulthan Bathery - Kalpetta - Vythiri - Pookot Lake.

KeralaSRTC and KarnatakaSRTC runs direct buses from Bangalore to Wayanad in which one can get down at the entry of Pookot Lake. Other option is to come till Kalpetta in KeralaSRTC or KarnatakaSRTC buses from Bangalore and from Kalpetta KeralaSRTC and private buses are available till the lake entrance.
