Paithalmala is a hill lying in Kannur district of Kerala. Paithalmala is a trekkable hill lying in the Western Ghats. Nestled in the Kerala Karnataka border near to Kodagu forests, Paithalmala is at a height of 1370m above sealevel. The trek start point is Kudiyanmala and the hill top is 6km from here. There are many seasonal waterfalls in the forests nearby. At the hill top there is an abandoned fort and view from here is breathtaking.
Best time to visit Paithalmala is during the post monsoon months of September to January.

From Kannur KeralaSRTC and private buses are available to Taliparamba. From Taliparamba KeralaSRTC buses are available to Kudiyanmala. From Kudiyanmala there is a tarred road which eventually degrades to a jeep track and then to a walkable trail, which goes to the Paithalmala hill top. Private cabs and jeeps are available at Iritty(30km away).
