Nilambur is a town in Malappuram district of Kerala. Nilambur lies on the foothills of the Nilgiris. Attractions at Nilambur are Canolly Plot, Teak Museum, Adyanpara waterfalls, Nilambur Kovilakam and Nedumkayam reserve forest. Canolly Plot is a Teak plantation lyin gnear the Chaliyar river 2km away from the Nilmabur town. The Teak plantation gets its name from the Malabar District Collector H.V. Canolly. The plantation was established in 1842 and is one of the oldest of its kind. There is a hanging bridge over the Chaliyar river to reach Canolly Plot. The Teak Museum is 4km away from Nilambur town. At the Museum one can get a close look into various aspects of Teak. Several specimens in this Museum are more than 100 years old. The Museum also has paintings and books about Teak tree. Adyanpara waterfalls is 14km away from Nilambur town. This majestic waterfall is amidst a rocky terrain and is dangerous during monsoon. This is a cascading waterfall. The Nilambur Kovilakam was once the place of residence of the rulers of Nilambur area. The Kovilakam is unique in its architecture. Nedumkayam reserve forest lies 14km away from Nilmabur town. The approach region of the reserve forest is filled with teak trees. There is a stream flowing through the reserve forest. Inside the reserve there is a wooden rest house established by the British which gives excellent view of the forest. As one approaches the Nilambur town the teak plantations can be seen on both sides of the road. Lying at the foot of Nilgiris, Nilmabur town is near to forest. There are many villages near to Nilambur town which are quite close to forest like Munderi, Kurulayi, Pookottupadam, Kavalamkutta etc. There are many non-popular trekking opportunities at forests near Nilambur.
Best time to visit Nilambur is durign September to December. During summers the place becomes dry and brown.

KeralaSRTC and KarnatakaSRTC runs direct buses from Bangalore to Nilambur. One can also opt to reach Gudalur by SETC or KarnatakaSRTC services from Bangalore. From Gudalur TNSTC, KeralaSRTC and private jeeps are available to Nilmabur. Nilambur is connected by rail to Shornur town. One can also reach Shornur by direct Indian railway services from Bangalore. From Shornur there is a passenger train shuttling twice a day to Nilmabur. To reach attractions from Nilmabur town private buses are available. Private cabs can be hired from the Nilambur town itself.
