Madikeri is the district capital of Kodagu district of Karnataka. It is a hill station in the western ghats. The people in the entire Coorg District are called Kodavas and they have their own distinct traditions. Their traditional dressing styles, festivals etc are all very different from other parts of india. They have a native language of their own called as kodava takk. The Madikeri city has many attractions like Madikeri fort , Rajah seat, Omkareshwara temple and Gandhi Mantapa. Abbey falls is a waterfall very near to Madikeri. In the kodagu district there are many other attractions like Bylakuppe , Cauvery Nisargadhama , Tadiyandamol , Bhrahmagiri, Iruppu Falls etc.
