Kotagiri is a hillstation in the Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu. Being separated from other Nilgiri towns by the Dodabetta range of mountains, Kotagiri has shorter monsoon season. Most popular attraction at Kotagiri is the Kodanad view point from where the Mysore plateau and the plains below the Nilgiri mountains can be seen. St. Catherian's Falls (8km away) and Elk falls (7km away) are the popular waterfalls near to Kotagiri. A forest reserve known as Longwood Shola offers a vast stretch of silent greenery where many small animals ans birds can be spotted. The conical Rangaswamy peak provides trekking opportunities at Kotagiri. The pillar at top of Rangaswamy peak is considered sacred.

KSRTC and SETC provides ample number of buses to Ooty. From Ooty , Kotagiri is only 30km away and can be reached in TNSTC and private buses available at Ooty. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is an exciting way to reach Kotagiri through Coonoor (17km away). For this, one has to reach Coimbatore in KSRTC, SETC or Train services available from Bangalore. From Coimbatore TNSTC and private buses are available to Mettupalayam. From Mettupalayam the Nilgiri Mountain train service is available to Coonoor. From Coonoor TNSTC and private buses are available to Kotagiri. To reach the tourist spots from Kotagiri autorickshaws and cabs are available in the town.
