About Bababudangiri

Bababudangiri is a mountain 1895m high and is a sacred place for both Hindus and Muslims. The hills holds the shrine of Muslim Sufi saint Baba Budan and Guru Dattatreya. The Shrine is inside a Cave like formation. There is waterfall named Manikyadhara just 4km from the shrine. The Bababudan hill range is a trekkers paradise. Its often clubbed with Mullayanagiri for trekking.

Visit after the rains for both trekking and site seeing. Typically the season is from September to February. During winters the place becomes misty and cold.

Food and Accomodation

There are a very few small hotels at summit which aren't so well maintained. Chickamagalur , only 20 km away is the best place for stay and food. There are also some resorts and home stays available in Chickamagalur.

Reaching Bababudangiri

Bababudangiri is 270km from Bangalore.

Route 1: Bangalore - Kunigal - Hassan - Belur - Chickamagalur - Athigundi - Bababudangiri.

Route 2: Bangalore - Tumkur - Tiptur - Birur - Lingdahalli - Kemmanagundi - Bababudangiri.

Reaching Chickamagalur is easy in KSRTC and from there you can get private buses with board mentioning "BB Hills"which can take you up till the shrine. From the shrine there are small cabs to Manikyadhara waterfalls. While you reach from Kemmanagundi side you will have to come in your own vehicle as there is no public transport or private buses connecting Kemmanagundi and Bababudangiri.
